1460420578 J * misc-- ~misc@123-243-234-69.static.tpgi.com.au 1460420625 M * misc-- hello.... I tried to clone an instance (ubuntu server guest and host). I did this: 1460420656 M * misc-- vserver www2 build -m clone --hostname www2.xxx --netdev eth0 --interface 10.34.0.197/16 --context 40010 -- --source /vservers/www1/ 1460420736 M * misc-- and then start it but it had errors like this: initctl: Unable to connect to Upstart: Failed to connect to socket /com/ubuntu/upstart: Connection refused 1460420822 M * misc-- so, I realised that the source I copied from was a running instance. I think I should have cloned it from a stopped instance. So then what I did was rsync the whole system from offline to the new cloned www2 instance 1460420880 M * misc-- anyway long story short, when I start up the guest now, I keep getting this: /etc/init.d/rc: 110: /etc/init.d/rc: cannot create /dev/null: No such device or address 1460420914 M * misc-- even though the whole /dev of the cloned www2 is the same as the /dev of the offline www1 1460420959 M * misc-- just wondering if anyone would know why it would do that 1460422432 M * Bertl_oO did you check the config for /dev related mounts? 1460422738 M * misc-- no.... 1460422745 M * misc-- how do I do that? 1460422857 M * misc-- I'm actually recreating it... cloning from a live instance. At least it works that way. But for some reason I get the error with Upstart failing to connect to socket /com/ubuntu/upstart. This is because udev isn't started, and if I do udevd --daemon, it says it can't write to /run, even though the permissions look fine. Still looking in to it 1460422890 M * misc-- (the guest starts at least but yeah some services fail to start, I will work on starting udev first, which should fix the other problems) 1460425273 M * misc-- I'm an idiot.. was because I didn't do this: echo plain > /etc/vservers//apps/init/style 1460425330 M * misc-- I even have it in my notes to do that. I guess I thought doing a clone would also clone the configuration settings (bcapabilities/flags/etc in /etc/vservers/) but it doesn't. Anyway all good 1460430054 M * Bertl_oO that's what I meant with checking the config :) 1460430060 M * Bertl_oO glad that all is good now! 1460431248 M * misc-- ahh ok! =) 1460443162 J * Ghislain ~aqueos@adsl1.aqueos.com 1460445390 J * nikolay ~Nikolay@host.255.3.ixos.de 1460445602 M * Bertl_oO off to bed now ... have a good one everyone! 1460445604 N * Bertl_oO Bertl_zZ 1460446091 Q * derjohn_mobi Ping timeout: 480 seconds 1460447511 J * derjohn_mobi ~aj@fw.gkh-setu.de 1460451141 Q * FireEgl Ping timeout: 480 seconds 1460451724 J * FireEgl Fire_OFTC@2604:2d80:8410:8067:1:4:: 1460451942 Q * transacid Remote host closed the connection 1460463216 N * Bertl_zZ Bertl 1460463217 M * Bertl morning folks! 1460466753 M * Ghislain hello 1460480793 Q * nikolay Quit: Leaving 1460481793 M * Bertl off for now ... bbl 1460481794 N * Bertl Bertl_oO 1460483549 Q * derjohn_mobi Ping timeout: 480 seconds 1460495694 J * derjohn_mobi ~aj@p578b6aa1.dip0.t-ipconnect.de 1460498579 J * LongyanG ~long@15255.s.time4vps.eu 1460498936 Q * Long_yanG Ping timeout: 480 seconds
