strangely, not all vservers are afflicted 1320929307 M * daniel_hozac vnamespace isn't related to pids at all. 1320929345 M * ffrank I figured it was an issue with how the vserver sees /proc 1320929392 M * daniel_hozac what kernel exactly? I doubt you remember, but a few weeks ago I was asking around here for help with some of my guests occasionally not being able to start after a temporary iscsi faliure. (All of my guests are on separate Netapp iscsi volumes). After some investigation, it looked like disk corruption and fsck wasn't helping with it. 1320948631 M * ryker I've had this happen quite a few times now and the only solution has been to reformat the volume and rebuild the guest. 1320948638 M * ryker I think I found the problem. 1320948647 M * ryker but I'm not sure exactly why. 1320948687 M * ryker It seems to be caused when I use the clone method to build a guest. If I use the template method to build the guest, I don't seem to have the problem. 1320948728 M * ryker I know that the clone method uses hard links to save disk space, but these guests are all on separate iscsi volumes, so I assumed hard links can't be used at all. 1320949267 M * ryker For the testing I did, both the clone and template method were using the same guest for the source. I just created a gzip'd tarball of the guest I was using with the clone method. 1320949532 M * daniel_hozac so what's different between the trees? 1320949722 M * ryker what's the best way to check? 1320949759 M * daniel_hozac ls -lR is probably a decent start. 1320949773 M * ryker the difference I'm seeing is that after a filesystem crash, I often have corrupt binaries on the guest the was created using the clone method. the template method guest hasn't had this happen yet. 1320949801 M * ryker daniel_hozac: well, it's a 5.6G guest, so that would be hard to decipher differences. 1320949820 M * ryker I can use diff on the directories I guess 1320949841 M * daniel_hozac if you've cloned them from the same source, there should be no difference. 1320949934 M * ryker true. i haven't checked them yet right after I created a new guest. i'll create a new guest and see if there are any differences. I did check by running du -sh on the guest folders, and the size matched up using the clone method. 1320949946 M * ryker but I hadn't checked it against the one built using the template method. 1320949954 M * ryker nor checked after a crash. 1320949974 M * ryker i've just compared individual binaries before and after a crash 1320949994 M * ryker and seen that after a crash, they are the same size, but difference md5sum 1320951557 Q * PowerKe Quit: Lost terminal 1320951618 J * PowerKe ~tom@94-226-105-186.access.telenet.be 1320951627 Q * PowerKe 1320951716 J * sweil ~stefan@p54ADB52B.dip.t-dialin.net 1320952283 J * PowerKe ~tom@94-226-105-186.access.telenet.be 1320953082 Q * fisted_ Remote host closed the connection 1320953102 J * fisted ~fisted@xdsl-87-78-211-28.netcologne.de 1320954817 M * Bertl_oO off for a nap ... bbl 1320954825 N * Bertl_oO Bertl_zZ 1320956806 Q * sannes1 Remote host closed the connection 1320957169 J * zbyniu_ ~zbyniu@ip-62.181.188.13.static.crowley.pl 1320957169 Q * zbyniu Read error: Connection reset by peer 1320957472 Q * sweil Read error: Connection reset by peer 1320960019 Q * PowerKe Quit: Reconnecting 1320960030 J * PowerKe ~tom@94-226-105-186.access.telenet.be 1320960165 J * Aiken ~Aiken@2001:44b8:2168:1000:21f:d0ff:fed6:d63f 1320960953 M * WMP where i can found changes in 2.3? 1320961952 J * sweil ~stefan@p54ADB52B.dip.t-dialin.net 1320962480 J * thierryp ~thierry@lns-bzn-47f-62-147-212-202.adsl.proxad.net 1320962836 Q * bonbons Quit: Leaving 1320964895 Q * sweil Remote host closed the connection 1320966776 N * Bertl_zZ Bertl 1320966780 M * Bertl back now ... 1320966791 Q * thierryp Remote host closed the connection 1320967406 Q * trippeh Quit: bytte boks 1320967449 J * trippeh atomt@kaputix.ugh.no 1320967477 Q * trippeh 1320967631 J * trippeh atomt@kaputix.ugh.no 1320967884 Q * hparker Quit: Quit
